What is Carbon Nanofiber?
Carbon nanofibers (CNFs) are nanoscale cylindrical structures composed predominantly of carbon atoms. They possess a high aspect ratio, and can have either a graphitic or amorphous structure.
Why use Carbon Nanofiber?
CNFs can exhibit excellent electrical conductivity, mechanical strength, and stiffness, making them ideal for reinforcement in composite materials. They also have a porous structure and a large surface area, offering benefits for applications such as gas adsorption, catalysis, and energy storage. CNFs are chemically stable and resistant to corrosion, enabling their use in demanding environments.
How to produce Carbon Nanofiber?
Carbon nanofiber is produced by carbonizing a PAN nanofiber precursor through a heat-treatment process. By controlling the properties of the PAN nanofibers, it's possible to tailor the properties of the carbon nanofibers, allowing for customization based on specific application requirements. This allows for improved parameters over traditional carbon nanofiber production methods such as chemical vapor deposition (CVD).
